Meet the 26 letters
Build familiarity with the English alphabet as a starting point for later phonics.
Official Little English product information · LEVEL 1 / 4
LP1 is the first app in Little English’s four-level phonics programme. It focuses on the 26 English letters, connections between letters and sounds, and first vocabulary. Consider it for a child beginning to recognise letters, including one who can sing the ABC song but cannot yet recognise letters or connect them with sounds consistently.

Meet the 26 letters
LP1
A child who is beginning to notice English letters and is willing to listen, look and try with a parent may explore LP1. Choose by existing letter and sound knowledge, rather than age alone or whether the alphabet song has been memorised.
If your child recognises familiar letters, connects them with sounds and is beginning to blend, also look at LP2’s vowel focus. If songs, pictures and shared stories are currently more engaging, keep those activities and introduce letters a little at a time.
LITTLE ENGLISH PHONICS
Build familiarity with the English alphabet as a starting point for later phonics.
Attend to connections between letters and sounds in words, moving beyond reciting letter names.
Bring sounds, print and meaning together through first words, preparing for the next vowel-focused stage.
Check the current store and app for course contents, prices and regional availability. Independent reading is a programme goal, without a guaranteed outcome or completion deadline.

These are adaptable home activity suggestions, not a list of app features or individual lessons.
Notice whether your child recognises a letter in different places and starts connecting it with a familiar sound. Singing the alphabet, remembering a card’s position or tapping quickly does not, on its own, establish that connection.
As letter recognition and sound connections become more secure, explore LP2. There is no fixed completion deadline, and every practice session need not become a pass-or-fail test.
LP1 can be an entry point to English letters. Explore a few letters and sounds together and observe interest and understanding. Continue meaningful vocabulary, songs and shared stories alongside it.
Reciting letter names in order is different from recognising a letter on its own and connecting it with sounds in words. If letters are unfamiliar outside the song sequence, LP1 may still be an appropriate foundation.
LP1 is organised around letter and sound foundations. A vocabulary app focuses more on words and meaning. Explore LP1 when connecting print to sound is the main need, and vocabulary activities when understanding more words is the priority.
That is not guaranteed. LP1 provides a starting foundation; reading also needs further decoding practice, vocabulary and sentence understanding. Continue shared reading and consider LP2 according to current knowledge.
We do not assign an unverified age range to these levels. Choose by letter and sound experience and the support a child needs. An App Store age rating is not a curriculum placement level.
Each level has its own App Store listing. Check download prices, free access, course purchases and any shared entitlements in each current listing and app. We do not promise that all content is free or one purchase covers the series.
The complete offline scope of each level has not been verified in this catalogue. If offline access matters, check the current description and confirm on your device. Purchases and restoration need an App Store connection.
